Chartered by the DoD to help researchers, engineers, scientists and program managers, IACS offer specialized research staff to DoD agencies and military services.

CBRNIAC is a DoD resource for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) scientific and technical (S&T) information. The CBRNIAC program acquires, processes, generates, synthesizes and disseminates CBRN Defense and Homeland Security information.
IATAC serves as a central source for information assurance (IA) vulnerability data, information, methodologies, models, and analyses of emerging technologies relating to the survivability, authenticity, and continuity of information system operation critical to national defense in support of the US agencies’ front-line missions. The prime contractor for IATAC is Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, VA.
MSIAC is the DoD’s integrated support activity dedicated to helping both developers and users of modeling and simulation. The center provides answers to technical inquiries from all DoD segments, such as preparing reports and technology assessments on modeling and simulation topics, with the aim of facilitating information exchange amongst all DoD elements that require M&S support. The prime contractor for MSIAC is Alion Science and Technology in McLean, VA.
RIAC maintains expertise, data, and information related to reliability, maintainability, quality, supportability, and interoperability (RMQSI). RIAC services include: open registration and on-site training courses focusing on RMQSI-related subject areas; special research and problem solving studies for both military and commercial customers; data collection and analysis; guidance publications, software tools, and databases; and technical inquiry service with answers provided by RMQSI experts. The prime contractor for RIAC is Wyle Laboratories in Huntsville, AL.
SURVIAC is the DoD focal point for nonnuclear survivability/ vulnerability data, information, methodologies, models and analysis relating to US and foreign aeronautical and surface systems. SURVIAC’s scope covers the survivability of allied and other non-adversary systems against threat weapons, as well as the effectiveness of US weapons against foreign systems. WSTIAC provides US military communities with technical data, information and engineering services related to conventional and directed energy weapons, their development, production, fielding, and maintenance. The prime contractor for WSTIAC is Alion Science and Technology in McLean, VA.

Jan 6/06: A $56.6 million contract for the operation of SURVIAC for a 4-year option period. The mission is to perform the functions of a full service Department of Defense Information Analysis Center. This includes survivability for aeronautical/ground vehicles/ships/spacecraft, weapons effectiveness, and Homeland Security/Homeland Defense. One 3-year option on the contract remains. The subject contract included a 3-year base performance period, and 2 options periods, for a total length of 120 months. This work will be complete in January 2011.
Jan 9/03: A $56.6 million contract for the establishment and operation of SURVIAC for a base period of 3 years with one 4-year option period and one 3-year option period included for the DoD. The performance completion date is expected to be in 2006.
All WSTIAC contracts are issued and managed by the 55th Contracting Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Unless the entry says otherwise, the contractor is Alion Science and Technology in McLean, VA, and the contract number is SP0700-99-D-0301.
Nov 23/09: Alion Science and Technology received task orders valued at $6 million to digitize nearly 110,000 Department of Defense (DoD) paper documents for the Defense Technical Information Center’s Total Electronic Migration System (TEMS).
Under the three-year contract, Alion will scan scientific and technical data from the libraries of the Weapon Systems Technology Information Analysis Center (WSTIAC) and the Advanced Materials, Manufacturing and Testing Information Analysis Center (AMMTIAC) into electronic documents and make them available through TEMS, a searchable, web-based system. The work will also give users the ability to store, retrieve and use large quantities of data electronically in performance of their missions.
Nov 2/09: A $6.3 million task order to enhance tools for decision support for the Marine Corps Systems Command and implement Total Life Cycle Management (TLCM) associated programs. The work includes sustaining and adding enhanced capabilities within the SOE Decision Support Tool (SOE DST); the management and utilization of Total Life Cycle Systems Management (TLCSM) predictive modeling capabilities; and improvement of Marine Corps TLCM through improved data quality, availability, analysis and decision support capabilities.
Sept 23/08: An $8.7 million task order to provide the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) with technical analysis and research for electronic warfare capability planning and development analysis. This research will enable AFMC to make key decisions regarding new system starts and modifications of electronic warfare operations and capabilities.
