Streamlight Provides Sponsorship and Product Support to COPS for 11th Year

Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of lighting tools for the law enforcement market, renewed its sponsorship of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) for the 11th year in a row with a contribution of cash and in-kind product donations. The company’s contribution will help to fund COPS observances during National Police Week, May 9-15, in Washington, D.C, an annual event honoring fallen officers and their families, as well as support programs held throughout the year.

“As the lighting tools brand of choice by law enforcement professionals who put their trust in our products in the line of duty, we are steadfast in our commitment to COPS for the support they provide survivors of fallen officers,” said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. “We share a deep commitment to law enforcement, and are proud to support COPS programs that help the families of fallen officers re-build their lives.”

Sharrah said that the company also is introducing a special light to commemorate COPS and fallen police, called the Blue Nano Light® and will donate a portion of sales proceeds to the organization. The tiny keychain light measures only 1.47 inches in length, but boasts a white LED that delivers 10 lumens. Made from machined aircraft aluminum, the light runs up to eight hours, powered by four IEC-LR41 coin cell batteries. It features a rotating on/off head switch, a non-rotating snap hook for easy one-handed operation, and a double-sided FOB that features the COPS logo on one side and the Streamlight logo on the other side. Streamlight will earmark $1.00 from the sale of each light for COPS, and also is donating a supply of the lights to COPS volunteers to help them administer the organization’s programs.

In addition to its sponsorship activities during National Police Week observances, Streamlight’s commitment also extends to support of COPS Hands-On Programs that take place throughout the year. Among the programs are COPS Kids Camp and COPS Outward Bound, as well as hands-on programs including the COPS Siblings Retreat, Surviving Spouses Getaway, Parents Retreat, Adult Children Retreat, In-Laws Retreat, FiancĂ©es and Significant Others Retreat and, new this year, the Affected Co-Workers Retreat.

Streamlight also is a lead sponsor of the Annual COPS Walk, which brings together survivors, friends and members of the law enforcement community who are willing to take on the challenge of walking 25 miles in two days to support COPS and its mission.

The company’s contributions also support COPS’ Traumas of Law Enforcement training program for police officers, a series of three-day sessions conducted across the country. The program helps agencies prepare for and handle the trauma of law enforcement death.
