OAI contract for Research with Air Force Research Laboratory

The Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) has just been awarded a new, $9.299 million  Cooperative Agreement by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).   The Agreement will fund cooperative research in computational aeronautical sciences to be carried out by OAI researchers working in collaboration on site with researchers in the Computational Sciences Center in the Air Vehicles Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton, OH. $300,200  in funds have been immediately obligated for initial work being carried out under the Agreement.  The Agreement will support research for the next five years.

OAI was selected for this award as the successful proposing organization among a field of competing applicants.  The new award will allow OAI to continue and grow its collaborative research activities with the Computational Sciences Center in the AFRL Air Vehicles Directorate, including basic and applied research in high-fidelity computational analysis of fluid dynamics across all flight speed regimes.  OAI researchers have received multiple awards and recognition for research excellence for their work in collaboration with AFRL.

"OAI is elated to have won this important opportunity to continue to work with the Air Force Research Laboratory's Air Vehicles Directorate to perform critically important research that will ultimately benefit our nation's war fighters," said Dr. Michael L. Heil, President and CEO of OAI.    "We are especially delighted that this agreement affords us the opportunity to continue to expand OAI's presence in the Dayton area, and our support for the Air Force."

"Our goal at all times is to deliver absolute excellence in the research that we do for our partners and clients," said Ann Heyward, Vice President, Research and Educational Programs, OAI.  "We believe that the demonstrated excellence of our research personnel, and their contributions and accomplishments, were key factors leading to our successful bid for this opportunity."
